temples, trekking and more temples

So finally made it to Chang Mai... and actually had a chance to sit down and write something even though I'm now in Laos....
But after know knows how many hours travelling I made it through Bangkok and to my little hostel in Chang Mai. Spent the next couples of days hanging out, temple hopping and market crawling with the girls I was in a dorm with. Chang Mai's a really cool little city and would definitely recommend a trip up there if youre ever in Thailand.
Me and my dutch room mate (Tessa) decided to skip on the tiger place... doped up tigers who you can go and sit on isn't my thing - opted instead for the 2 day trek with a bit of elephant riding and white water rafting thrown in as well... a brave move considering my level of fitness and had I know what the trekking was going to be like I think I might have thought twice about it, but it was definitely worth the blood sweat and tears.
Stayed the night in a village hut (a long house type of thing) at the top of the mountain which had no electricity...
still need to get used to cold showers! Next day we trekked down the mountain which wouldn't have been too bad had there not been a torrential downpour in the night - yes mum good thing i bought those hiking shoes. The white water rafting that day was a bit hairy especially when everyone else in my boat fell out in the rapids apart from me - some how managed to cling on!
I could have easily spend another week in Chang Mai but sadly I had the Gibbon Experience booked so after one night of recuperating and a trip to the weekly night market I packed up and said goodbye to Chang Mai and hopped on my bus to Chang Kong via a very weird white temple and a speedy boat trip across the boarder and into Laos.
